CD-ROM in DOS

  • When my teenage son was playing with my computer it crashed Windows 95. I reinstalled Windows but it appears that my CD-ROM will not run under DOS. How can I get the CD-ROM to work under DOS?

The reason for this may be that DOS does not recognise any drivers for your CD-ROM. Drivers are software that enables your computer to communicate with your hardware. When your computer crashed, these drivers may have been wiped out. To reinstall the drivers, consult your CD-ROM’s manual. When you are finished, check that the lines are in your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS to initiate the CD-ROM drive.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
