Printing in DOS
-
I recently upgraded my printer to a Canon BJC-7000 and found that a couple of DOS programs containing considerable information that I wish to keep would not print on my new pride and joy. Provided with the printer was some software called LQ Emulation which was supposed to overcome the problem by emulating an Epson. I loaded the software but it does not work. Maybe I have not entered the correct settings into the software?
If the printer works with other DOS programs then you should check the printer’s settings for those programs that will not print. Check the settings of the programs to ensure they correctly identify the printer type and that the ports are correctly identified. Ports are connectors on the back of computers that allow the user to connect computers to devices such as a printer. The ports most common to printers are the LPT ports. They are designed to handle printers so make sure that the program is configured to this printer port, rather than a COM port which is for communications (such as modems).
