Monitor power on
-
Ever since I bought my computer I’ve had the problem that the monitor does not come on automatically. When I turn on the computer I have to wait and see if the monitor comes alive. If not, I turn it on and off a few times with its own switch, but that doesn’t work consistently. At worst, I turn the computer off. Because the screen is not on I cant log off, so when I start it again Windows has to go through and check itself - but the monitor always comes on. I asked the place I bought it off but they werent much help. They said it might be something to do with the monitor flipping into standby mode.
It is more than likely that your monitor is switching itself into standby mode. To prevent this from happening go into the Windows ‘Control Panel’ and double click on the ‘Power’ or ‘Power Management’ icon. There should be a drop down box next to ‘Turn off monitor’. Click the drop down menu and select ‘never’. This will prevent your monitor from going into standby mode. If this does not work you may have to change some settings in the BIOS Setup. If this is the case, consult your computer’s manual but do not attempt to modify the BIOS setup yourself. Doing it wrong could result in your computer not functioning properly. If you do find that it is a problem with the physical monitor DO NOT attempt to fix it yourself because of the high voltage inside, take it to a professional monitor repairer.
