I have tried several times to access the Windows 98 Update feature that comes with Win 98. Each time I do, I get a blank page with the message “Done” in the bottom left hand corner. It does not matter where I access the URL (windowsupdate.microsoft.com/default.htm) from even from Microsoft’s home page - I still get the blank page. Even an email from Microsoft regarding the Y2K problem that contained the URL still gave me the blank page. Are you able to help me solve this mystery (and get the updates). (more…)

I have just gotten my computer upgraded and noticed that I can change the screen resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 High Colour. I normally use my computer at 800 x 600 because after that I find it hard to read what is being displayed on the monitor because the letters are too small. The other day I wanted to see what the screen looked like at the highest resolution (1280 x 1024) but when I put the screen at this resolution the monitor went berserk and I couldn’t distinguish anything on it. I rebooted but it still was like that when the Windows 98 desktop loaded. Now I can’t use my computer because I can’t see anything on the monitor! Could you please help me restore it back to normal? • Printing Outlook contacts

Several months ago I chose Microsoft Outlook ‘Contacts’ to use as a database for my personal addresses because it was recommended to me on the basis of it being an easier program to use than Microsoft Access. While it is true that I haven’t had to start from scratch and have been able to enter my personal data, it hasn’t been all plain sailing. I am now having problems printing the data as some entries appear to be over printing onto the entry headings/titles. The country and interstate codes for telephone numbers are also overprinting. Can you please help me with this problem? (more…)
