Unable to locate installation program
-
I am attempting to install CD ROM programs using Windows 95 and “Settings > Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs” as per Manual I am confronted with message: ‘Windows was unable to locate Installation Program…Click Browse to manually search for the Installation Program’ (The CD ROM comes with no info. as to how to install it). Since the computer can’t know what CD ROM I’m going to try to install, how can it know what the drive is? What am I doing wrong?
I suggest that you install the CD-ROM programs manually using explorer. Go to Start menu > Programs > Windows Explorer. Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive and when it has loaded, click on the CD drive icon in the left-hand column of explorer. On the right side of the screen the contents of the CD should appear. Find the icon with the name such as ‘Setup’ or ‘Install’ then double click the icon to launch the installation program. If you cannot find an icon like this, I suggest you search in the sub directories of the CD. If there is no install program anywhere on the CD there are a few ways you can try to get it working. You could try and run the applications off the CD by double clicking the program icons, or manually copy a directory off the CD to your hard disk and run the programs like that.
