Downloading sounds
-
I have ICQ and the latest they have out is Jukebox with extra sounds you can download for upcoming birthdays and things to remember. I go to download and a Windows box comes up saying to download this you need Windows Media Player. Then it prompts to download and then a message comes up as error and says ‘The security setting for your current zone may be set too high. Does not allow ActiveX to function properly to restart installation on demand. Change the security to medium by going through the tool bar and internet options then close Internet Explorer and press the browser refresh button’. I checked the zone and it is on medium already. Can you help?
This is occurring because your computer wants to download the file onto your computer, store it in a temporary directory, and play the file to you. The computer is saying that it needs Windows Media Player to download the file because it doesn’t know of any other application it can use to play the file once it has been downloaded off the internet into the temporary directory. The way to get around this and save it to your hard disk rather than playing the file once it has been downloaded into the temporary directory is a straight forward operation. On the webpage that you are downloading the sound files from, right-click on the link of the sound file you want to download, and on the menu that appears click ‘Save target as’¦’. A box will appear and from there you can choose what directory you want to save the file in and what name you want to save the file as.
