Save as RTF

  • Word 97 has a “Save as HTML” option in the File menu. I often need to save documents in RTF. Is there some way of setting up a “Save as RTF” option in the File menu thus avoiding the need to go to “Save As” and then choose RTF off the drop box?

Word 97 doesn’t have ‘Save as HTML’ in the file menu as default so this must have occurred when you did a particular operation. As far as I know, there isn’t any way to change the menu item to ‘Save as RTF’, however, you can set up RTF as the default format in which to save documents. Go to > ‘Tools’ menu > ‘Options’ > ‘Save’ tab, and change the drop-box next to ‘Save Word files as’¦’ to ‘Rich Text Format (*.rtf’).

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
