Card breaks
-
When playing card games on Windows 98, quite often a card played (by clicking it) breaks into two or three pieces and the screen seizes requiring re-booting. The retailers of Windows 98 in Canberra do not know how to fix it and the technical support people at Microsoft do not respond to my cries for help. Could you please assist me in this problem?
Probably the installation of the game was corrupted. I suggest that you re-install the games that are not working properly. I assume that the games in question are Microsoft Solitaire (or alike), that come standard with Windows 98. To reinstall the games go to ‘Start’ menu > ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’, open the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ control panel and click the ‘Windows Setup’ tab. Under the ‘Components’ heading, find in the list box ‘Accessories’, click it once to highlight it, and click the ‘Details’ button. On the next screen that appears, under the ‘Components’ heading, find ‘Games’ in the list box and uncheck the white box next to it (by clicking it once), click the ‘Ok’ button, then at the following screen, click the ‘Ok’ button again. Windows will start to uninstall the games. Once that is done, go back into the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ control panel, ‘Windows Setup’ tab, ‘Accessories’ and place a tick in the white box next to ‘Games’ (by clicking it once) and press the ‘Ok’ button and on the following screen ‘Ok’ again. This will reinstall the games which should now function properly.
