MCKRNL32.DLL not found

  • Whenever I turn on the computer, a message “error starting program” comes up on the screen: “A required .DLL file MCKRNL32.DLL was not found”. This message, however, does not hinder me from continuing to use other applications, such as MS Word, etc’¦ The ‘Find Files or Folders’ indicates that the MCKRNL32.DLL file rests in the ‘C:Program Files’ Folder (66KB Application Extension), although when I open it, I can’t find it at all. So, I presume I must have inadvertently deleted it when deleting other files (e.g. the old version of my McAfee VirusScan). Am I right? And what can I do to bring it back. I am using Window 95

This problem is probably caused by the way you uninstalled McAfee VirusScan . Instead of following the recommended uninstallation procedure you probably just deleted the folder which containing the program. When you do this, only the program files are deleted, not shared files, registry entries for that program, etc’¦ This means that when you startup Windows it still wants to run McAfee VirusScan due to elements of the program that haven’t been deleted and because it cannot find the program files, it brings up the error message. Uninstalling the program properly, using the appropriate uninstallation software, will delete all elements of the program (eg. program files, registry entries, shared system files, etc’¦). Now the only way that you could get rid of this message would be to reinstall McAfee VirusScan and then uninstall it from the ‘Control Panel’ ‘Add/Remove Programs’ facility. Once you have installed McAfee VirusScan go to Start menu > Settings > Control Panel, and open ‘Add/Remove Programs’. Click the ‘Install/Uninstall’ tab and scroll down the list of applications until you find ‘McAfee VirusScan’ (or similar), click the name once, and click the ‘Add/Remove’ button to start the uninstall procedure.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
