Multiple profile email

  • I am running Outlook Express on Windows 95 (my PC is too old to run Windows 98). I have profiles set up for different users of my machine. The problem is that all the profiles share the same Outlook Inbox. Is there a way to set up different inboxes for each profile?

There isn’t a way to do this per se. However you can create new folders in Outlook Express and use the ‘Inbox Assistant’ function to change the destination of emails sent to a specific email address. You do this by going to ‘File’ menu > ‘Folder’ > ‘New Folder’. The ‘Create Folder’ box will appear, in which you now type a suitable name for the new folder (eg. John’s Inbox). As you want to create the folder under the ‘Outlook Express’ folder hierarchy, click ‘Outlook Express’ in the tree diagram below the folder name input and finally press the ‘Ok’ button. Now that the folder has been created, use the ‘Inbox Assistant’ function to specify where you want emails sent to a specific email address to go. Go to ‘Tools’ menu > ‘Inbox Assistant’ and when the ‘Inbox Assistant’ box appears, click the ‘Add’ button. In the next box that appears in the ‘To:’ text box, type the email address of (eg. john@someisp.com.au) and under ‘Perform the following action’ place a tick in the ‘Move to:’ check box and click the ‘Folder’ button to select the folder where you want to move the email to (eg. Johns Inbox). Finally click the ‘Ok’ button and the ‘Ok’ button again. In the example given all emails going to John’s address will be sorted into ‘John’s Inbox’ instead of going to the main ‘Inbox’ folder.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
