Outlook send later option
-
I read with interest your column a few weeks ago when you gave some tips on how to stop messages being sent immediately when using Outlook Express. Well I assumed you meant Outlook Express as I use this software at home and it has in the File drop-down menu the option ‘Send later’. However in Microsoft Outlook this is not an option. I tried your instructions in the Outlook options menu but it does not have the option you quoted in the ’sending’ tab. So how can you change the setup in Outlook so messages are stored in the ‘Outbox’ until you dial in? (or is this not possible). We are interested in this as we have a number of programs that only dial in twice a day to send and receive emails. If emails are sent when the line is not open, the PC freezes.
You are right there is not a ‘Send Later’ feature in Microsoft Outlook but instead, Outlook has a feature that allows you to delay delivery of email until a certain hour, day, week, month, etc… You can access this (making sure you are in the message for which you wish to delay delivery) by going to the ‘View’ menu > ‘Options’, where under ‘Delivery Options’ you should find the option ‘Do not deliver before:’ In the drop-down box next to that, you can specify how long you want the message to be delayed before delivery. Another way you can achieve this is by going to the ‘File’ menu (while in your message) > ‘Properties’ > Click the ‘Send Options’ button > And click the ‘Microsoft Exchange Server’ tab. Under the ‘Send this item’ heading you can specify when you want this message sent. I hope that this helps and sorry for my delayed response to your question pending my investigation of your query.
