Speed of emails

  • When I send email text is fine but when I send files or photos it will take quite some time for the mail to go through, say approx. 30-40 minutes for a 200 kb file/photo. I have checked the properties and all appears okay. Could it be the modem that slows the file being sent?

There are three considerations here (i) The speed of your modem (ii) The speed of the ISP’s modem to which you are connected (iii) Internet congestion. If your modem is fast then more than likely it is your ISP’s (especially if your ISP has a lot of users logged on at one time which would also create internet congestion). There are many packages that you can buy which claim to speed up your internet connection but I doubt that this would help you in this case. I suggest that you talk to your ISP about the speed of your transfers.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
