Arrange favourites into alphabetical order

  • I’m running IE5 with Windows 98 Plus. When I add a ‘favorite’ web site to my list, the compilation seems to be in date of addition order. How do you re-arrange the list to be in alphabetical order?

You can do this by going to ‘Start’ menu > ‘Programs’ > and open ‘Windows Explorer’. Go to your ‘Windows’ directory and then the ‘Favorites’ sub-directory (which may be ‘C:WINDOWSFavorites’). Once you are in the ‘Favorites’ directory right-click in any free white (depending on what your background colour is) space where the bookmarks are displayed. Select, from the menu that appears, ‘Arrange Icons’ and on that sub-menu select ‘by Name’. This will make all of your bookmarks (favorites) display in alphabetical order.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
