Modifed date and time not changing

  • In WordPerfect for DOS 5.1 my file list performs normally, but in WordPerfect Suite 8, working on the same Win95B platform, the Modified date and time no longer change when I edit a file. Newly created files have the correct date and time, but there it stays. The clock seems OK, and Norton Antivirus (latest update) shows no viruses. Is my Windows Explorer corrupted, and should I reinstall it from the CD over the existing version?

This is unlikely to be a problem with Windows Explorer but possibly with WordPerfect. I managed to get onto one of my friends computers to test out your problem. On his computer, which is running WordPerfect 8, the modified date does change when he edits a file. I suggest, so that you can narrow down the problem to WordPerfect or Windows, that you create a new document in Notepad (or alike) and check to see whether the modified date changes. If it does it appears that WordPerfect or a related component is the culprit but if it doesn’t, as much as the odd’s are against it, it is probably a problem within Windows. Either way you may need to reinstall the software. I would start with WordPerfect Suite 8 since the Dos version is running Ok. If you still have no luck then I suggest that you would probably need to reinstall Windows to correct this problem.
