Cannot print emails

  • Previously I used Windows 95, Internet Explorer 4 and Outlook Express with no problems. Then I upgraded to IE 5 from a CD provided by PC World. By doing this I have lost the ability to print e-mail messages. Other functions in Outlook Express work, but any of the alternatives to request a Print produce no reaction. Printing in IE 5
itself is OK. I shall be grateful for your comments.

This is a known problem with Outlook Express 4 and Internet Explorer 5. Normally when you upgrade to IE5 only Internet Explorer gets upgraded to version 5 but Outlook Express is not upgraded. The alternative work around’s and fixes for this problem are (i) Copy the message from Outlook Express into another application. (ii) Save the Outlook Express message to your desktop and rename the extension as ‘mht’ (without the quotation marks). Then the message will open in IE5 and you can print it from there. (iii) The best way to fix this problem is to upgrade your version of Outlook Express to 5.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
