Internet Explorer 4 script error
-
I receive the following message when trying to access some information (latest stock quotes) from the Australian Financial Review web sites: ‘An error has occurred in the script on this page: Line 423, Char 2, Error Permission Denied, Code 0″. I am then asked if I wish to continue running scripts on the page. I have also received script error messages on some other web sites. What could be causing this? I am using Windows 98 and MS Internet Explorer V4.0.
These types of errors are normally caused by the website you are visiting trying to execute a script of some type but it cannot because there are errors in the script. Also, on some occasions the message is given out because the web browser you are using is too old to recognise and run the scripts on that page (and thus thinks the script is corrupt or has errors). I suggest that you upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 which is very modern and should solve the problems you are having in viewing some websites. I also suggest that you download and install Microsoft Scripting Engine Version 5.1 from www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting.asp which should stop these scripting errors occurring.
