Downloading files and Colour adjustment methods will not be available error

  • I would appreciate your advice about the following 2 problems I’ve encountered recently:
    (1) A file downloaded from the internet to disk/desktop turns up in Wordpad in computer language. How can I change this into plain English?
    (2) An annoying error message, every time I want to use the printer ,has suddenly decided to appear: “Canon BJC-210 - Internal Error: Colour adjustment methods will not be available.” I’m using Windows 95 and my current ISP is AOL. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Regarding your first question, it seems that the file associations on your computer have been mis-configured somehow. I assume that the problem you are having is with .zip files because if other file types (eg. executables (*.exe) were misbehaving then you would be having the problem with all applications, just not ones that you download off the internet. The first thing to do is, to check whether you have a zip file extractor such as WinZip on your computer. If you do not have this, then this is the probable cause of your problem. I strongly suggest that you download WinZip from www.winzip.com . Once you have downloaded this, install it and you should be able to open your downloaded .zip files. However, if you do already have WinZip (or an alike application) installed, I suggest you reinstall it. This should fix your problem because during the install procedure the .zip files will be reassociated with WinZip so you can open them. Regarding your second question, this is a common problem that is normally caused when you are using outdated printer drivers. You can download the latest set from: www.ccsi.canon.com/techsupport/downloads/ which should fix your problem.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
