I have a problem with Netscape. Ever since the new year, whenever I go into security protected sites, another window comes up saying “Certificate Authority is Expired”. Apparently it expired on the first of the year but I have no idea how to fix it…I have always chosen the option of continuing but am worried that the sites I visit may not be secure. Could you advise me on what to do please? Thank you for your assistance. (more…)

I have a question about an annoying error message that keeps coming up every time I turn on my computer. The message is: “System error: “Windows cannot read from drive E: If this is a network drive, make sure the network is working. If it is a local drive check the disk” [Cancel] [Retry]. When I click on Cancel, the message disappears and I can go to the desktop. My computer is a standalone and not on a network. On my computer drive E: is for the CD. I am running Windows 95 with 16Mb RAM on a Pentium 90 This message is really bugging me so any advice as to how to get rid of it would be appreciated. (more…)

  • No folder information in Windows 98

When I open any folder in Windows 98 the extra folder info is not displayed on the left hand side of the folder window. The clouds picture and folder name are there but not any of the extra info under it. This includes the “Empty Recycle Bin” and “Show Folder Contents” buttons in the Recycle Bin and Windows program files and system folders. This is very annoying because it means I can’t see any of my file info or see picture previews when I click once on them. I would prefer not to have to reinstall Windows to rectify this problem. I have tried resetting all my folders, viewing all folders as web pages, using TweakUI to rebuild associations and the system files but none of these worked. Any ideas? (more…)
