Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server

  • I want to use Outlook Express to synchronise email from my Hotmail account. However I always receive the following error message form Outlook Express when I want to retrieve Hotmail messages: “Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: ‘Hotmail’, Server: ‘http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp’,
Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: ‘Bad Request’, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 65535, Error Number: 0×800CCC31″. Can you help?

The problem which you are experiencing is not unusual. This problem will occur when you are accessing the internet through a proxy server which doesn’t like (can’t support) HTTPMail. You can find instructions on how to setup Outlook Express so as not to access your Hotmail account through a proxy server at: httpmail.webhostme.com/exception.htm . However, if you are still encountering problems then please contact me again.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
