Backup C drive
-
A while ago while backing up my system, to enable me to then compress my C drive to create an H drive, I ran out of spare disks and had to abort until I got some more. Since then I have found I have been unable to backup and am now running low on space within my C drive. How can I overcome this? I seem to get to the point where it starts the final backup process, then it freezes. Also another problem I have is with a disk I got with a computer magazine. It seems to load ok but when I go into view the program it comes up with: ‘Garden caused a general protection fault in module garden.exe. at 0004:00002855. Can you tell me what this means please? Thank you.
For your backup problem, I suggest you reinstall the backup program. I am assuming that you are using Microsoft Backup (which comes standard with Windows). Go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Control Panel’, open the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ dialogue, and click the ‘Windows Setup’ tab. From here you can uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft Backup. I cannot go any further with either of your problems until I have more specifics. If you would still like to pursue one or both of your questions, please contact me again with the following information: what is your operating system (eg. Windows 95), what backup program are you using (eg. Microsoft Backup), and what is the name of the application which is causing the general protection fault? Could you also tell me why your C drive is running out of space (is it related to your backup problem or just because you are putting more files onto the drive) and what is showing on the screen when the backup program freezes? Thanks for your cooperation and patience.
