Norton Antivirus causing printer to run slow
-
Earlier this year I sent you a question regarding my printer response time being very slow. I have discovered that this is a conflict with my Norton AntiVirus 2000. I found this by accident on the Hewlett Packard internet site where a user had the same problem. When I disable the virus scan everything runs normally fast including, I now realise, the printing function itself. I wouldn’t mind if you don’t take this request any further, but if you are aware of any fix for this conflict I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Firstly let me apologise for the delay in responding to your query. I have been holding off on answering your question because I have been trying to find a fix to your problem. However, I have not been able to find a patch or fix which could solve your problem. A possible solution to your problem may be to download the latest drivers for your printer off the Hewlett Packard website (www.hp.com). I have already had a look at the Symantec site for any updates to Norton AntiVirus 2000 but there are none for the actual software component (there are only virus definition file updates). I hope that this works out for you. If any other readers are experiencing the same problem or know of a possible solution to Geoff’s problem please feel free to write in and share your knowledge.
