Multiple Calendar shortcuts
-
I have Microsoft Works 2000 and Windows 98 SE. I had some work done on my computer to fix a software problem and in the process the Calendar in Works was replicated. When I go to the Microsoft Works programs group on the Start menu, there is Calendar, Calendar (2), and Calendar (3). I want to get rid of Calendar (2) and Calendar (3). I tried uninstalling Works 2000 and when I went back to the Microsoft Works group Calendar (2) and Calendar (3) were still there but unopenable. I reinstalled Works 2000 and when I opened the Calendar it was completely empty of entries. I re-entered my anniversary items thinking that they would only be recorded in Calendar. However when I opened the Calendar (2) and Calendar (3) there were all my entries. Can you help please?
You’ll be glad to know that you don’t have multiple copies of the Calendar installed. Instead, you have multiple shortcuts to Calendar. All the items on your ‘Start’ menu are shortcuts which point to the location of the actual program file. You could call them aliases of the real program files. When you open ‘Calendar (2)’ or ‘Calendar (3)’ you are opening the exact same program file as when you open ‘Calendar’ as they are all pointing to the same program file. This is why you see all of your ‘Calendar’ entries when you open ‘Calendar (2)’ or ‘Calendar (3)’ because it is the same program. To get rid of ‘Calendar (2)’ and ‘Calendar (3)’, simply right-click on them (in the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Programs’ > etc…) and click ‘Delete’ from the menu which appears.
