MSHTMLED.DLL

When I compose a new mail in Hotmail, or to reply to one I’ve received, after about a dozen or so keystrokes the cursor jumps back to the beginning of the message, and then 30 seconds or so later an error message comes up saying “Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module (unknown)” or sometimes in “MSHTMLED.DLL”. Internet Explorer then shuts down, taking my half finished piece of matchless prose with it. I’ve tried virus scans, used Window Washer and reinstalled Internet Explorer 5.5 but still it persists. I don’t have any problem using Outlook Express. Any ideas? I run Windows 95.
When searching around on the internet I found that many other people were experiencing the exact same problem as you when composing email in Hotmail. The most common fix people use, is to run the Internet Explorer Repair Tool. To do this, go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’ and open ‘Add/Remove Programs’. In the window which appears on the ‘Install/Uninstall’ tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, click the ‘Add/Remove’ button, and then click ‘Repair the current installation of Internet Explorer’ or ‘Repair Internet Explorer’ (depending on your version of Internet Explorer). The repair should run and your computer should reboot. After this, the problem should be resolved. However, if it persists, try installing the Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 1. You
will find this at Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com) and if Windows 95 doesn’t support Windows Update you can also find it by going to www.microsoft.com/downloads/ . Under ‘Product Name’ , select ‘Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Tools’ and under ‘Operating System’, select ‘Windows 95′ followed by pressing the ‘Find It!’ button. Once the results appear, click ‘Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 and Internet Tools’ and full instructions detailing the installation and download will appear.
