Please check your Content Advisor settings for missing information

  • I am running Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5. Whenever I start Internet Explorer and try to visit a website the message ‘Please check your Content Advisor settings for missing information’ appears and I cannot visit any websites. As far as I know, I have not enabled Content Advisor, yet whenever I try to disable it when I restart Internet Explorer the Content Advisor is always enabled again and I am back to square one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a friend who had exactly the same problem. I found an article in Microsoft Knowledge Base which said that this problem can occur in Internet Explorer if the Ratings.pol file is damaged or corrupted or there is another Ratings.pol file in the C:WINDOWS directory. You can find this article and instructions on how to correct this problem at support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q242/0/37.asp .

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
