Word Web toolbar

  • I use Word 2000 on quite a few documents with tables of contents. I normally only have the Standard and Formatting toolbars active. However if I click the cursor on a page in the table of contents to go to that page, Word 2000 automatically starts the Web toolbar. I don’t use that toolbar, and don’t want to lose that portion of my screen that it uses. Is there a way to prevent the Web toolbar opening every time I click on a page in the table of contents?

I don’t use Word 2000 but I had a look around in WordPerfect and the general consensus is that the Web toolbar will appear on a certain page if you have a URL or web link on that page. If this is the case, there seems to be two ways to stop the Web toolbar appearing. Firstly, change the URL or web reference on that page to just normal text. This means that Word will not think that the URL or web reference is a hyperlink and thus the Web toolbar will not appear. The second alternative is to delete the Web toolbar all together from Word. I am not sure how to do this so you would have to query Word help. However, I suggest that you use the first suggestion and not the second as you may need the Web toolbar sometime.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
