Please check your Content Advisor settings for missing information
By skid on February 26, 2001 in Internet and email | No Comments
I am running Windows 98 with Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5. Recently the following message has come up when we launch Internet Explorer or Windows Help (from the start menu). It appears whether we are connected to the internet or not. ‘Content Advisor. Please check your Content Advisor settings for missing information. Check the Tools menu and click Internet Options. On the Content tab, check the Content Advisor settings.’ I do this and check the settings and can then use Internet Explorer. However, the next time when using Internet Explorer the same problem occurs. Additionally the disable button won’t work unless I first go into the content settings. Again after disabling the Content Advisor it appears not to remember the last changes. I have tried changing the supervisor password, but this has no affect. Any suggestions? (more…)

General protection Fault User.exe
By skid on February 26, 2001 in Office | No Comments
Whenever I try running Word 2000, Excel 2000, Power Point 2000, or Publisher 97 the system comes back with ‘Program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. General protection Fault User.exe @ 0005.0000070e’ and also lists a set of register addresses. This happened when I started using Outlook Express to access my email through another server. I am using Windows 98, Office 2000, and Publisher 97 on a portable Toshiba 430cds. Can you help? Thanks. (more…)

Compacting Outlook Express folders
By skid on February 19, 2001 in Internet and email | No Comments
I have Windows 95 and use Internet Explorer 4 with Outlook Express. When I log onto Outlook Express I get a message saying there is a lot of wasted space and would I like to compact the folders. I gather there is a lot of wasted space if the following is any guide. If I go into properties for certain folders, for example Inbox, it shows the size of the folder is 6343 KB (0 Unread). The same applies for Deleted items 11512 KB (0 Unread), and Sent items 320 KB (0 Unread). The Newsgroups are even worse: 2892 KB in one, and 1696 KB in another. Even though I previously downloaded all these messages and emails and then deleted them, are they still hidden away on my hard disk? I would be very grateful for any advice. (more…)
