Game running too fast
-
I recently upgraded my home computer from an old Pentium 90 to a PIII 800MHz. One of my kids’ favourite games, Magic the Gathering, is now running so fast as to be unplayable. I have heard that it is possible to slow newer, faster machines down for specific games. Can you tell me how to do this or else how to find out?
Yes, it is possible to slow your computer down for certain applications written when computer speeds were lower. Many people have found that when they buy new computers, old programs may run too fast. There are many utilities which can slow down computers to run certain programs. One such utility is Mo’Slo. You can find this at www.hpaa.com/moslo/moslo.asp . I had a look at Mo’Slo and it is designed to be run from the DOS command prompt for DOS games. If the program(s) you wish to slow down run in DOS, then this will be ok for you. I strongly recommend that you read the Mo’Slo instructions before running it as it details on how to operate the utility. I also had a look around the internet for any utilities to slow down applications running under Windows but unfortunately I could not find any. If any other readers know of any utilities of that kind, please write in so I can publish the information in a future column.
