Whenever I try running Word 2000, Excel 2000, Power Point 2000, or Publisher 97 the system comes back with ‘Program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. General protection Fault User.exe @ 0005.0000070e’ and also lists a set of register addresses. This happened when I started using Outlook Express to access my email through another server. I am using Windows 98, Office 2000, and Publisher 97 on a portable Toshiba 430cds. Can you help? Thanks.

I have been thinking on this question for a while now but I have not been able to come up with a solid solution yet. It is quite interesting that the problem started occurring when you first started using a different mail server in Outlook Express. I am starting to think that this may have just been a coincidence rather than anything else. However, there still are some things you could possibly try. Firstly, try reinstalling Office 2000. If the problem still occurs then really the only other thing (short of calling Microsoft Technical Support) I can think of is reinstalling Windows 98. I am sorry that I could not offer any other suggestions. However, if any other readers have any suggestions, please write in.
