C:WindowsApplication dataMicrosoftAddins is not a valid Office addin

  • I have an annoying problem with Outlook 2000. I use Outlook Express 5 and have Outlook 2000 and would like to migrate from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000. However, every time I open Outlook 2000 I get the message ‘C:WindowsApplication dataMicrosoftAddins is not a valid Office addin’. How do I get rid of this message? I am using Windows 98 and Office 2000 with Internet Explorer 5.5.

This problem can occur when the registry entries for Microsoft Small Business Manager are setup but the actual program files are not installed. This is a particularly tricky problem as there are different ways to solve the problem depending on how your computer is configured. Furthermore, most of the solutions require Windows registry editing. As I cannot publish all of the solutions for every scenario, I will direct you to have a look at the article in Microsoft Knowledge Base which addresses this kind of problem. This can be found at support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q235/0/09.asp.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
