The Active X/COM section of your Windows Registry contains one or more invalid entries

  • I have an Intel Celeron 466 Computer with Windows 98 SE, 128 MB RAM, Diamond Viper V770 Display, Creative DVD5241E Drive, and Rockwell HCF 56K Data Fax RTAD PCI Modem. Norton Windoctor regularly displays the error message ‘The Active X/COM section of your Windows Registry contains one or more invalid entries’. The details are: ‘Missing or Invalid Key: ‘AtWorkRenderingshellPrintTocommand’ refers to an invalid command entry ‘C:Program FilesWindows UpdateRTF

I have seen this problem before and the cause is the DVD drive. The problem was solved by simply upgrading the drivers for the DVD drive. This was achieved by going to www.sigmadesigns.com which is the site of the manufacturers of the DVD drive package in question. However, as your drive is part of a Creative package, I suggest that you go to www.creative.com/pcdvd and have a look there for updated drivers. Alternatively, if you cannot find newer drivers, you can try to reinstall the current drivers, in case your original installation has been corrupted or is conflicting with other software.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
