Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 crashes after menu

  • I use Windows 98 with 64mb RAM and a 6 GB hard drive. I bought ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2′ but when I go to the menu which asks to choose ‘Single Player’ or anything else the game does not go further and crashes to the desktop. I reinstalled the program several times but with the same result. I installed the CD on another PC and it worked very well. Any suggestions?

As I haven’t ever played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 I had to enlist the help of the Activision website (the makers of the game) to help with this problem. You’ll be glad to hear that I found two articles in their Knowledge Base which deal with the problem you are experiencing. Firstly, have a look at the article ‘Game crashed to the desktop when trying to play’ which can be found at www.activision.com/support/kb/7837.html. This deals with the possible causes of resolution and colour depth, background applications, low 3D acceleration, and no 3D accelerator. If that doesn’t help, have a look at ‘After the intro video the game will crash to the desktop…’ at www.activision.com/support/kb/7260.html. This deals with the possible causes of video and sound drivers, a certain type of sound card, resolution and colour depth, background applications, the uninstallation of the demo version of the software, and mouse cursors.
