Year 2094
-
I have two computer problems. Firstly, my Windows clock shows the year 2094. In the ‘Control panel’ > ‘Clock’ the day and month are right but not the year. Even when I correct the setting and click on ‘Apply’, the next day it comes back as 2094. How can I make the setting stick for the current year not the year 2094? Secondly, how can I stop my printer printing images which surround a text? Highlighting the text and pressing print does not make any difference. Also, the option to print ‘Selection’ in the print window is never active. I would appreciate any suggestions. I am running a 486 with Windows 95, 32 MB RAM, Netscape 4.7, and Internet Explorer 5.5
Regarding your first problem, this is actually a Y2K problem (I never thought I would say that again!). This is a known issue with some AwardBIOS and Phoenix BIOSes. You can download a patch for this problem from www.phoenix.com/pcuser/year2000/tf-utility.html. It would also be good practice, if you have not already done so, to download the Windows 95 Year 2000 update from www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/WURecommended/S_WUFeatured/win95y2k/Default.asp. Regarding your second problem, if you highlight text to be printed, you will normally have to go to the ‘File’ menu > ‘Print’ in order to bring up the print window where you can nominate ‘Selection’ as the page range to print. You will have to do this because if you press the ‘Print’ button then, this normally does not bring up the print window and automatically prints the whole document (so you cannot use ‘Selection’ as the page range to print). The ‘Selection’ option in the print window will only be available if you have selected what you wish to print. The option may not be enabled as you may be accidentally deselecting the text when you go to the File menu. In any case, try the method outlined above, and if you are still having difficulties please let me know.
