Outlook Express disconnects internet

  • I have a very strange problem with Outlook Express. Each time when I open Outlook Express after opening Internet Explorer I get disconnected. However, there is no problem if I start Outlook Express first then Internet Explorer. Please advise what I have to do to solve this problem.

This problem is probably occurring because Outlook Express has been setup so that it is trying to dial-up a different internet connection and thus needs to disconnect to dial the other connection. This could be the problem if you have swapped ISPs. To check this, go to the ‘Tools’ menu > ‘Accounts’. Click the ‘Mail’ tab and ensure that the dial-up networking connection (under the ‘Connection’ heading) is the correct one for your email account. If it isn’t, you can fix this by double-clicking your mail account in the list and, in the window that appears, click the ‘Connection’ tab and from here you can change the dial-up connection. You will notice that the dialogue box also mentions that this setting overrides your Internet Explorer setting which would be the cause of your problem.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
