Audio CD causes crash

  • My computer is Pentium 4 1.3GHz with 128mb RDRAM running WindowsMe. The package came with Sound Blaster Live Version 5.1201.3041 CD. My problem appeared after I reinstalled WindowsMe due to an error in KERNEL32.DLL (which still persists). The new problem now is that whenever I insert an audio CD the computer either crashes, freezes, reboots, or gives an error message. I have run Creative diagnostics and every thing goes fine until I test the CD when there is a continuous noise and an error message. The audio CD can be played fine in Windows Media Player but not by the Creative player. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Creative Sound Blaster several times but the problem persists. The error message is not always the same but one is: ‘An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C18258B0 in VXD CDVSD + 00003880. This was called from 0028:C1825519 in VXD CDVSD(03) + 000034E9. It may be possible to continue normally. Press any key to attempt to continue. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer’. However, at this stage, the system does not respond and has to be rebooted. Please help!

I cannot find any similar problems to the one you are experiencing. I am starting to think that this problem may be due to the Creative software on your computer not supporting WindowsMe or if you have recently made any hardware changes. I have thought about and researched your question for a while hoping to get a definite answer, but unfortunately I haven’t found a solution. My suggestion is that you download the latest version of the Creative software. To find the software, have a look at www.creative.com/support/files/download.asp where you can select your operating system and hardware to find the latest version of the software. If this doesn’t help then my only other suggestion is to contact Creative Labs and ask for their assistance.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam.
