Internal Error: Colour adjustment methods will not be available

  • I have a Pentium computer operating Windows 95 with a Canon BJC-4200 Colour Bubble Jet Printer. Lately, when I try to print a coloured picture, a message ‘Internal Error: Colour adjustment methods will not be available’ appears on the screen. I press ‘Ok’ and the printing proceeds. The resultant picture is incomplete, only partially coloured, and distorted. This did not happen earlier in my printer’s life. I change the black and colour cartridges periodically but have done nothing else to disturb the normal functions. Would appreciate your help.

You are not alone! I have seen a similar message appearing on another computer, connected to a BJC-4200 printer, under particular conditions. However, this problem only occurred when a colour image was being printed with a black ink cartridge in the printer. If a colour cartridge was in the printer when printing a colour image, then the problem did not occur and the print proceeded perfectly so the error in this case was perfectly reasonable as the computer was simply giving a warning that there wasn’t a colour cartridge in the printer when printing a colour image. However, your error seems to be different as the print is distorted, etc… I have read some similar cases on the internet and it seems that for some people, the image doesn’t print like it should and for others it prints perfectly. In any event, the general diagnosis to fix the problem is to simply download the latest printer drivers. You can find these at www.canon.com.au/drivers/drivers.html. Make sure that you download the latest version of the drivers.
