Send fax through computer

I have a 600Mhz PC running Windows 98 with an inbuilt fax modem. Is it possible to scan a document into the PC and then send the document by fax?
As you have a fax modem in your computer it is possible to send faxes. All you need is the necessary scanner software (to scan the document into your computer) and a fax program (which probably came with your modem). Alternatively, you can use Microsoft Fax which comes with Windows 98.
