INSTANTACCESS.EXE is linked to missing OFFICEACCESS.DLL

  • After upgrading to Windows 98 about every 5th or 6th time I startup a dialogue box appears saying ‘MSGSRV32 has performed an illegal operation’. If I am quick and click OK then Windows goes on to load, but if I am too slow, the machine freezes. Also, on opening Textbridge Pro 98 (OCR shareware) a dialogue box pops up saying ‘INSTANTACCESS.EXE is linked to missing OFFICEACCESS.DLL’. When I click OK, the program will load but the OCR doesn’t recognise Office 97. Both InstantAccess.exe and OfficeAccess.dll are in the TEXTBRIDGE PRO98BIN folder. Any suggestions would be welcome on these two problems.

Unfortunately it is difficult to diagnose and fix your MSGSRV32 error message with the information you have provided. Usually when a message such as this appears, it is possible to click the ‘Details…’ button to show details of the module in which the error occurred. However, obviously you cannot do this as your computer freezes almost immediately after the message appears. If you are able to click the ‘Details’ button to give more information on this error, please email the information to me and I will try to diagnose and fix this problem for you. Regarding your second problem with InstantAccess.exe and OfficeAccess.dll, you could try to manually register the OfficeAccess.dll file. To do this, go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Run’ and type: regsvr32 C:…TEXTBRIDGE PRO98BINOFFICEACCESS.DLL (replace … with whatever is the path of the Textbridge folder) and press OK. If you receive an error message then, it may be the DLL is already registered or the DLL cannot be self-registered. Beyond this I have not been able to find any fixes for the problem. As this software is shareware, possibly your best option is to use a different version of the software.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
