Home page changed

Whenever connected to the internet, I am redirected to a website which says ‘In order to automatically go to your chosen destination, you should enable ActiveX use in your browser’. I checked my security options under ‘Tools’ menu > ‘Internet Options’ > ‘Security’ tab and set the Active X settings in all sites to ‘Enable’ but this doesn’t seem to solve the problem. How can I get my desired home page to open first? I am running Windows 98 with Internet Explorer 5.
Many people experience similar problems to the one you describe, where you are redirected to a website rather than your desired homepage. A few weeks ago when answering a similar question, I referenced the program StartPage Guard (available from pjwalczak.com/spguard/index.php). This program was brought to my attention by a reader in relation to an earlier question on the same topic. This program will protect your Internet Explorer homepage and should stop you being redirected to the other site. I also strongly suggest that you reset your ActiveX options back to their original settings, to avoid potentially harmful ActiveX applications being executed on your computer.
