Unable to load dynamic link library msnp32.dll

  • I am running Windows 98SE on a KT133 motherboard with 256Mb RAM, AMD Duron 900 chip, and 40 GB HDD. Lately when Windows starts, a message window comes up which says: ‘Unable to load dynamic link library msnp32.dll. The system cannot find the file specified. Some or all of the following feature is not available: Microsoft Network’. When I click OK, it goes away obediently, and things then proceed normally. I haven’t noticed anything unusual as a result of the file not being loaded. Can you throw any light as to why the message has begun appearing, and, if it does not really affect my working, how to get rid of the message?

This problem is quite easily fixed by extracting a new copy of MSNP32.DLL from your original Windows disk. You can find instructions on how to do this at support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q243431.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
