Acrord32: Invalid page fault in module WININET.DLL

  • Whenever opening Acrobat Reader 3.01 the following error message appears: ‘Acrord32: This program has performed an illegal operation and will shutdown. Invalid page fault in module WININET.DLL at 0157:6300113b’. When Acrobat is used to view PDF files within Netscape the error message appears but the download of data continues. However, Netscape is frozen out. The computer is a Pentium 133MHz HP Pavilion 5315D running Windows 95.

You have a rather old copy of Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. I checked whether the latest version (Acrobat Reader 5.x) is compatible with Windows 95. Unfortunately, the latest version of Reader seems to only be compatible with Windows 95 OSR 2 (the second version of Windows 95). If you are running Windows 95 OSR 2 download the latest version of reader (from www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html) and install. However, if you are running OSR 1 you probably won’t be able to update your version of Reader. If you still have the installer for Adobe Acrobat 3.01, try reinstalling the software. I have been trying to find older versions of Acrobat on the internet, in case you no longer have the installer, but I have been unsuccessful. Apart from this, I cannot think of any other possibilities for solving this problem. If any other readers have some suggestions to help Malcolm please write in!

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
