Parallel port scanner drivers
-
Recently, I acquired a KTX 9600 UP parallel port scanner which did not come with any software. I’ve searched the internet, including specific sites for Windows device drivers, but have not been able to find the exact driver and scanning software for this scanner. I’m using Windows 95 B. Also, can I use a normal parallel cable (such as a printer cable) or do parallel port scanners need a special cable? When I physically plugged in the scanner the computer didn’t seem to recognise it at all. Do I need to have drivers installed first?
The only drivers I have been able to find, which are close to your scanner model are the KTX 9600 SP and KTX 9600 AP drivers. These are available at www.scanner-drivers.com/companies/567.htm. These may work for your scanner. I can’t say for sure, but they are probably worth a go. I have never used scanner-drivers.com so I cannot vouch for the reliability of the drivers which you download from their site, so it is probably best to take all the precautions and scan the downloaded drivers for viruses before installing. Also, please make sure that you observe any copyright laws when considering downloading the drivers from a third-party website. Regarding your question on parallel cables, scanners do not require a special cable - they will work fine on a normal parallel cable. Windows may not have recognised the scanner as you may need to install the drivers beforehand (especially because you are using an older version of Windows).
