NUM LOCK not working

  • Recently I purchased a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. However, the NUM LOCK key seems to have no effect as the keypad will not type numbers with the NUM LOCK enabled. However, the directional arrows work when NUM LOCK is disabled. Is there something I should do?

Generally on wireless keyboards the NUM LOCK function is controlled by the software, rather than hardware so, there may not be a NUM LOCK light on your keyboard. Instead, when you press one of the LOCK keys (being NUM, CAPS, and SCROLL) an indication appears on screen to notify you that the LOCK is engaged. The first thing you must ensure is that the drivers for your keyboard and mouse are installed. Plenty of times I have seen users plug the keyboard and mouse straight into the computer. The devices will look as if they are working perfectly fine, however later down the track there maybe problems and the user is left wondering what is causing the problems. If you do not have the drivers installed, follow the steps given in the instruction, which came with the keyboard and mouse, to install the drivers. If you do have the drivers installed, try upgrading the drivers to the latest version. You can do this by going to www.logitech.com, click ‘Australia’ as your location and then, after the next page has loaded, click the ‘Downloads’ link at the top. Please contact me if the problem persists.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
