Download and save updates from WindowsUpdate

  • Is there anyway to save and reuse Windows updates which are downloaded from WindowsUpdate? I have multiple PCs on my home network and this would save time and avoid excess download charges from having to download the same information more than once. Both machines are running Windows XP Home.

This is a very good question and no doubt many other people are asking the same, as this is also useful for machines which are not connected to the internet. To do this, you will need to go to the Windows Update Catalogue. This can be found at v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true. Here you can search for updates for all Windows versions. When you select an update it will be stored in your Download Basket. Once you have selected all the updates you wish to download, click ‘Go to Download Basket’. You can select the location on your hard drive to which you would like to download the updates, then click ‘Download Now’ and once you have agreed to the licence agreement the download will commence.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
