Norton Antivirus deleted a virus and then I could not open Adobe Type Manager email attachments. After uninstalling ATM, whenever I attempt to open an ATM attachment the following message appears ‘Can’t find program.exe’. There doesn’t seem to be a program.exe on my computer. Should I reinstall ATM? The computer is running Windows Me.

The reason the program.exe message appears is because the computer cannot find the program to open the Adobe Type Manager file. The ‘program.exe’ is simply acting as a placeholder for the name of the proper executable when opening the ATM files. Try reinstalling Adobe Type Manager, which should fix the file association and allow you to open the files. If not, you will need to manually fix the association. Save the ATM attachment to some easy to locate place (e.g., the Windows desktop). Hold SHIFT and right-click on the file, and click ‘Open With’ from the context menu. In the list of programs, find and select Adobe Type Manager, tick ‘Always use this program to open these files’ and click OK. The file association has now been restored.
