DiscWizard doesn’t work

  • I use the Seagate DiscWizard 2003 hard drive utility for backup purposes. The feature I like is the duplication of hard drives. The utility has a maintenance and partition function which occasionally doesn’t work. The utility starts but shortly stops and returns to the main window. Reinstalling the program has not fixed the problem. The computer is a Pentium 4 2.4GHz running Windows XP.

Before running DiscWizard, make sure that you have closed all background applications and processes, including the icons in the system tray. To check, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and click the ‘Processes’ tab. Click the ‘User Name’ heading to sort by user name. You can *usually* close all processes running under your user name, but exercise discretion as this really depends on your individual system configuration. Apart from this, there isn’t much else I can suggest. Any other readers with suggestions are welcome to write in!

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
