Error. Cannot Connect To File System InCD Service Not Running.

  • When Windows starts the following error always appears: ‘InCD Error. Cannot Connect To File System InCD Service Not Running’. Clicking OK closes the message. The computer is running Windows XP Home Edition.

If you are running InCD 4.xx then this is a recognised problem and a fix is available from the Nero website. Go to www.nero.com/en/support.html and click the ‘InCD’ link in the top menu-bar. In the left-hand menu bar click ‘InCD 4.xx FAQs’. Then scroll down the page until you find the ‘I get the error ‘Cannot connect to file system’. How do I fix this?’. Click this link. In the unlikely event this fix does not work, you could always disable InCD from loading at startup. Since InCD doesn’t seem to be starting correctly now, disabling the item from startup shouldn’t cause any additional negative side-effects. Go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘msconfig’ and type ‘Run’ (without the quotes) and click OK. In the window that appears, click the ‘Startup’ tab. Find the entry for ‘InCD’ and untick this item. Click OK. Restart the computer.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
