Screen goes black when pressing Caps Lock or playing Freecell

  • The computer screen goes black whenever I press Caps Lock, make a wrong move in Freecell, or try to close a Freecell game. How can this be fixed?

Unfortunately this problem will be very difficult to diagnose, due to the countless possible causes of the error. You could try reinstalling Freecell, through the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ control panel in case this by some miracle fixes the problem (although this won’t explain why the problem triggers when using Caps Lock). It may be worthwhile to scan your computer for viruses; on the outside chance the computer is infected. However, my bet is the problem is caused by some Windows quirk which is probably unique to your system. You might like to consider backing-up important data and reinstalling Windows. However, before doing this, could you please email me with more specific information on the problem, such as how long the screen goes black, if anything is displayed on the screen and how you recover from the problem. I would be quite interested to know what exactly happens.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
