Disable Windows XP appearance features
-
Windows XP has quite a few neat appearance features, such as the shadow underneath the cursor and fading/sliding menus. Unfortunately, on older computers this can slow down performance. To disable these appearance features, go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Control Panel’. Open the ‘System’ control panel and click the ‘Advanced’ tab. Under the ‘Performance’ heading, click ‘Settings’. On the Visual Effects tab, you will see a list of the different appearance items which you can enable and disable. Once you are done, click OK, then OK again to save the settings.
