When attempting to run a DOS based program, the following message appears: ‘C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application’. Can you help, as two programs I want to access are very important and I want to use them regularly.
You will be glad to hear this problem is relatively common with Windows XP. The cause of the problem is due to the Config.nt, Autoexec.nt or Command.com files being corrupted. To fix the problem, follow the procedure in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article at support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=324767. The instructions in this article are very specific and they are quite easy to follow.
