Hide inactive system tray icons

  • Windows XP has a feature to hide inactive system tray icons. However, you may find that Windows is automatically hiding an icon that you want to remain visible. To stop Windows from hiding a particular icon, go to the ‘Start’ menu > ‘Control Panel’. Open ‘Taskbar and Start Menu’ then click the ‘Taskbar’ tab. Under ‘Notification area’, click the ‘Customize’¦’ button. Select the icon you would like to keep displayed and set the icon to ‘Always show’. Likewise, you can also set icons to ‘Always hide’ or ‘Hide when inactive’.

Hi there. If this is the first time you are posting a comment it will not appear immediately, but needs to be approved. This is necessary in order to combat comment spam. However, once you have submitted a comment (which is subsequently approved) you do not need to go through this process again - the site remembers who you are and auto-approves your comments. Nifty eh? Anyway, sorry about the inconvenience that this may cause for your first comment post.
